Africa on Foot
Description
Africa on Foot is located in the heart of the Klaserie Private Reserve, a Big 5 reserve sharing unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park and the famous Timbavati Nature Reserve. The small and intimate camp specialises in professionally guided walking safaris, with some of the top trails guides leading the 3-hour morning walks. Walking safaris aside, Africa on Foot’s second unique selling point is its lofty romantic treehouse and second swimming pool, adjacent to one another.
Each of the 5 thatched chalets (rondavels) are decorated in a simple style with subtle bushveld hues, and boasts exceptionally comfortable linen and beds. 2 of the chalets Are family-rooms, and all have en-suite bathrooms and outdoor showers. Guest can expect comfortable lodgings with all the creature comforts of home. For th more adventurous, the open-air treehouse provides a thrilling experience with it unparalleled views of the wilderness beyond.
The safari-style main area is where guests spend hours chatting about their sightings, and connecting over tasty home cooked fare. Tucked away in the corner is a modern safari-inspired bar, and a small lounge that leads into the dining area. Flowing out from there is the boma area, where there’s always a roaring campfire – and the occasional honey badger. Two on-site swimming pools, one inside the camp and the other close to the treehouse, provide the perfect place to cool off from the searing summer heat. The pool in the camp’s main section is frequented by elephants during the dry winter months.
Morning’s kick-off with a relatively flat 3-hour walk through the Klaserie where guests will learn plenty about the wild from their expert trails guide. Evenings are spent in the back of an open-topped game viewer searching for predators.
